How to Develop Self Confidence?

Success belongs to those who have self-confidence.

Self-confidence is an important milestone that helps us to be successful in any venture we undertake. It makes us worthy of ourselves but others too, give us respect. People with self-confidence can do any task because they think positively and turn even the adverse situation in their favour.

What is self-confidence❓

Self-confidence is the faith or trust, a person has in oneself. It is the belief one has regarding one's capability to do a task independently and nicely. Such people who have self-confidence are very daring and positive➕. They have full confidence in their abilities and complete whatever task they begin to the best of their ability.

Why we have to develop self-confidence❓

We must develop self-confidence. If we will lack confidence, who will trust us and give us a task to? If we develop self-confidence even the most difficult task would seem easy. This confidence gives us an inner drive and we make things possible that actually seem impossible at the beginning of the task.

What happens with people who lack self-confidence❓

The people who lack self-confidence are unsure of themselves. They think numerous times before starting any task. Also, they falter so much that many a time they leave the task in between. Lack of self-confidence affects a person's performance. People who lack self-confidence can not face difficulties in life and lose their potential. He makes barriers for him and finds himself in hardship. But people with self-confidence can accomplish any task.

How to develop self-confidence

Self-confidence comes from the willpower a person has. If we have strong willpower, our self-confidence will automatically increase manifold. The very first step to developing self-confidence is to believe in yourself and try to do each task with full potential. If you fail the first time try it again with more energy than before. If you fail again then do that task with more and more potential than before. We must not forget the old saying that God helps those who help themselves.

Let me tell you a short story of a spider:

Once a spider was trying to spin a web by swinging from one branch of a tree to another. The spider swung and failed, the spider tried the second time but again failed, the spider tried continuously six times in the same manner but failed but the seventh time it succeeded. This is nothing but the self-confidence and willpower of the spider. If a spider can develop self-confidence, why not you?

History is full of people who succeed because of their self-confidence. Hellen Keller was both deaf and blind. Yet, she achieved a lot of success and became a social worker.  It was her self-confidence, that won over her disabilities.

Abraham Lincoln was born in a poor family. He had to face many hardships but his self-confidence made him one of the greatest presidents of the United States of America.

Let me tell you another story about two mighty kings Alexander and Porus.

Alexander was a powerful king of Macedonia (Greece) who dreamt of conquering the whole world. After conquering Syria, Palestine, Egypt, and Persia in 326 B.C. He crossed the Hindukush mountains and entered Punjab. There he found that there were two powerful kings---Ambhi and Porus. Ambhi was the king of Taxila who entered into an alliance with Alexander without a fight. This made Alexander all the more confident. He thought Porus would also do the same. But Porus was a brave king. He did not bow before the whims and fancies of Alexander. Alexander was furious. He had not anticipated that Porus would be so brave and that Porus would challenge him. Both the armies of Alexander and Porus marched and met near River Jhelum. Porus's army was camped on the right of the river Jhelum and Alexander's to the left.

River Jhelum was flooded with water flowing towards the right. At night Alexander and his army marched upstream and crossed the river easily. They suddenly attacked Porus and his army while they were sleeping.

Alexander had a huge army. Yet, Porus did not give up and fought bravely. But, he was defeated as he could not face the strong army of Alexander. Finally, Porus was caught by Alexander. He surrendered and was brought in front of Alexander in chains.

Alexander looked at him with a triumphant smile and asked, "So, how shall I treat you now? " Porus replied, "Just like one king treats another". Alexander was impressed by Porus's self-confidence. He immediately ordered his release and gave back his kingdom to him. Porus got back his kingdom because he displayed self-confidence even before a victorious king and emerged as a true winner.

Every human activity calls for self-confidence whether it is small or big. So if we do any task with self-confidence, we surely achieve success.

Remember, self-confidence is the foundation of all great success and achievements. Do share your experience in the comment section.
